Model OP ovarian shield for female patients, available in sizes to suit various age groups . It is used during X-ray examinations of the pelvic region, particularly hip, thigh, and lumbar spine radiographs. The ovarian shield is  fully encased in a hygienic ,  easy-to-clean PVC cover.  Its  upward-facing, shaft-like extension protects ovaries located higher  up in  the pelvis .  The shield has a lead equivalent of 1.0 mm Pb .
